CANCER TREAMENT

A CANCER SUPPORT GROUP WITH A DIFFERENCE

Chad Walkaden, Director & Primary Practitioner

23 September 2017

From November 2017, you will be able to access my cancer coaching programs in small, intimate and supportive groups at Phoenix Recovery Centre on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

The initial group will operate over four separate sessions and be based on BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT. That means, it is for anyone finishing their cancer treatment or for anyone that has finished their cancer treatment and wants to be professionally supported to live a healthy life beyond the completion of treatment.

What is BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT

BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT is one part of specialist cancer coaching model that was designed to ensure that individuals (and their families) had access to effective therapeutic services at all stages of the cancer journey.

What is the model

Before we look at this point, it may be helpful to refer to the picture below. This picture reflects the four different phases that are completed as part of THE CANCER BLUEPRINT (from diagnosis or during treatment) or BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT (finishing or finished treatment). Despite the vast changes that can be experienced at different stages of “the cancer journey”, I found that these four key areas remain crucial. The four phases include:

Phase one: Your Location (location within life and the location with their personal experience of cancer or “journey”).

Phase two: Your Identity (exploration of identity, change, loss and the discovery of strengths, opportunties and capacities).

Phase three: Your Needs (the creation of strategies for stress, fear and anxiety plus the inclusion of nutrition/movement and a supported tailored approach to breathing/meditation).

Phase four: Your Future (expert support to help you prepare and implement the strategies and learning that has been completed throughout the program].

What is covered in the program

– Group and individual exercises and activities to support physical, emotional, social and mental well-being.

– Targeted stratigies to reduce fears, stress and anxiety.

– Creation of personalised plans to address key areas such as loss, identity, change and the “new normal”.

– Promotion of lifestyle, social health and relationships.

– Support with nutrition & movement.

– Incorporation of meditation and mindfulness techniques.
